GENERAL NOTICE FROM THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT<\/p>

Subject: Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Day Holidays<\/p>\n

The Labour Department wishes to inform the general public that in accordance with the \u201cPublic Holidays (Amendment) Act 2019\u201d, No 23 of 2019, Christmas Day and Boxing Day holidays will be observed on December 27 and 28, 2021, respectively.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

As such, December 25 and 26 will be treated as normal working days.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Further, New Years day will be celebrated on Saturday 1st January, 2022.<\/p>\n

Therefore, Monday 3rd January, 2022 will be a regular working day:<\/p>

Employers are reminded that employees who are scheduled to work on public holidays should be paid their regular wage in addition to an hourly rate of 150% of their basic rate per hour worked.<\/p>\n
