The organizers of Antigua Sailing Week (ASW) announce their\u00a0online fundraising auction<\/a>\u00a0starting December 13th and running for a period of 7 days until December 20th<\/sup>, just in time for the gift giving season.<\/p>

A non-profit national event, the organization relies on the annual revenues from yacht entries, sponsorships, ticketed events and merchandise sales to cover operational expenses. The unprecedented situation the world finds itself in has restricted the event from taking place for 2 consecutive years, therefore the organization has experienced a significant decline in operational funds.<\/p>\n

The auction will have two objectives: raise much needed operational funds, but equally important, provide\u00a0an opportunity to highlight and market a diverse selection of accommodation, dining, services and activities available to those visiting and living in Antigua to an extensive market.<\/p>

\u201cEven with limited resources, to date we have been able to attract 60 official entries which puts the event at more than double the\u00a0number for this period relative to 3 years ago. We of course would like to see a bumper year with the return to racing but need this additional support from the community and supporters to make this happen\u201d says event organizer Rana Lewis .<\/p>

\u201cThis has been a hard 18 months for the yachting business community, but we decided to pursue the avenue of \u2018community crowdfunding\u2019, reaching out to businesses and individuals who are essentially the main stakeholders in the success of extended the yachting season. \u00a0We are grateful to all who have agreed to help the\u00a0organization reach its fundraising goal of $US15,000,\u201c says ASW president Alison Sly-Adams.<\/p>\n

Bids can be placed for leisure and active experiences ranging from memberships\u00a0& massages at\u00a0Energie Antigua<\/a>, lessons at\u00a0Kitesurf Antigua<\/a>,\u00a0a days\u00a0on the water with\u00a0Creole Tours<\/a>\u00a0&\u00a0Adventure Antigua<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0dinner\u00a0at\u00a0Colibri Restaurant<\/a>. \u00a0More extravagant items include a your own Private Chef experience with Chef Antoine Poitvin of 5Senses Restaurant, hotel stays\u00a0at\u00a0Catamaran Hotel<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Inn at English Harbour<\/a>, home furnishings from new comers to English Harbour \u2013\u00a0S<\/a>OTEAK.CO<\/a>,\u00a0LIAT<\/a>\u00a0travel, private catamarans and so much more!<\/p>

Bidding\u00a0ends December 20th<\/sup>\u00a0at noon AST, and participants must\u00a0register\u00a0<\/a>on our secure website in order to be able to place bids. Plus here’s the possibility that new items may be added through out the week, so\u00a0like<\/a>\u00a0&\u00a0follow<\/a>\u00a0our social media and\u00a0stay tuned\u00a0for updates.<\/p>\n
