Guided by Glow was created by actress Sayra Player last year, and offers listeners a range of guided \u201cerotic audio sessions\u201d for $8.99 a month.<\/p>

The app has quickly attracted a legion of followers, and has even been endorsed by Gwyneth Paltrow\u2019s Goop, which included it in its \u201cSexy Holiday Gifts Guide\u201d alongside various vibrators and a \u201cSmell Like My Orgasm\u201d candle.<\/p>

Guided by Glow features a number of different sessions and storylines which usually begin with guided breathing exercises designed to relax the listener. Often the narrator will then instruct the listener to start sensually touching themselves.<\/p>\n

Player explained that she wrote her first guided meditation for her app after finding herself unsatisfied with online porn. \u201cI haven\u2019t had a lot of resonance with conventional porn, but I\u2019ve always done yoga,\u201d she told the Daily Beast. \u201cI love to surrender and stop thinking and just flow.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cI was listening to a guided meditation and had this moment of, \u2018It would be cool if this person spoke to my body and brought in a sexual experience.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n

Player added: \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a porn producer. I want to be a pleasure connoisseur.\u201d<\/p>

Sessions last between eight and 25 minutes, with listeners able to choose from male, female and non-binary voices to guide them through the erotic exercises.<\/p>

Female listeners were mostly all approving of the app and finding their glow. \u201cIt was a nice break from normal porn, and it did feel more comforting,\u201d one said. \u201cSometimes after porn I feel a real shame, but with this I didn\u2019t have the experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt naughty, like I didn\u2019t want my neighbors to hear it,\u201d another said. \u201cThe voice was phony, with the forced inhaling, but it made me horny. So I guess it worked!\u201d<\/p>\n

While Guided by Glow is marketed for women, one mindfulness coach says \u201csexual meditations\u201d can also help bring men to a more fulfilling orgasm.<\/p>\n

Jessica Graham, a mindfulness coach and author of \u201cGood Sex: Getting Off Without Checking Out\u201d, told the Daily Beast: \u201cFolks get pretty caught in their head during sex, especially around climax. This happens to people of all genders, not just women, who tell me that they can\u2019t climax with someone else because there\u2019s too much anxiety. \u201c<\/p>\n

Meditations designed to induce orgasm didn\u2019t begin with Guided by Glow.<\/p>\n

The mediation company Simple Habit also has a \u201cMindfulness During Sex\u201d program. Headspace also boasts a \u201cMindfulness and Sex\u201d page, saying the tools learned during solo meditations can be applied with a partner.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, YouTube also houses several of the raunchy and relaxing mediations. The page \u201cMeditation by Melissa\u201d features a 30-minute session titled \u201cGuided Orgasm Meditation for Women,\u201d which has clocked up more than 600,000 views.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you slow down, you access all of this pleasure and turn-ons that are available, but usually get bulldozed over,\u201d Graham says. \u201cAs a culture, we\u2019re very focused on the instant gratification of a [climax] and getting off. So many people think that if they don\u2019t get off then they weren\u2019t successful. But there\u2019s patience in learning to slow down and be with your body that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
