Just as the nation of Antigua and Barbuda celebrated 40 years of political independence on 1st November, so too, did the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, as they celebrated with eight members, who have given over four decades of unbroken service to the nation.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

During an award ceremony held at the Sir Wright F. George Police Academy on Thursday 4th November, His Excellency, Sir Rodney Williams conferred the Meritorious Service Medal on Assistant Commissioner Elvis Weaver; Superintendents Cecilia Francis, Christopher Warren, and Avil Jacobs; along with Assistant Superintendents Alston Ryan, Arthur Edwards; and Inspectors John Pelle and Bastin Burke, for their years of unbroken service to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

Assistant Commissioner Elvis Weaver is currently the longest serving member of the police force; having enlisted in the service in February of 1979.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Commissioner Rodney congratulated the honorees and thanked them for their support over the years. He further encouraged them to continue be an example to their subordinates; pointing to those who may have lost the will to carry on and follow in their footsteps.<\/p>

Retired Commissioner, Sir Wright F. George was also presented with a plaque for Meritorious Service to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda by the Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney.<\/p>\n

Sir George\u2019s Career in the police force span from 1951-1990. He retired in June of 1990, having served as commissioner of police for 16 years.<\/p>
