A man in Kenya who was dubbed a vampire after confessing to the killings of ten children and sucking the blood out of at least one has escaped from prison.<\/p>

Masten Milimo Wanjala, 20, had been set to appear in court yesterday charged with multiple counts of murder.<\/p>\n

However, officers realised that Wanjala had escaped from the Nairobi prison after he missed morning roll call, the BBC reports.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Authorities have now launched a manhunt to find the escapee and have also arrested three police officers who were on duty during the time of his escape from Jogoo Road police station.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

The Governor of Nairobi, Mike Sonko, has offered a \u00a31,316 (Sh200,000) reward to anyone able to assist officers in locating Wanjala.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old was arrested in July after police tracked him down after two bodies were found dumped in Kabete, outside Nairobi.<\/p>

He confessed to ten murders over a five year period and had been assisting police to recover the bodies.<\/p>\n

Wanjala was found after two bodies \u2013 \u00a0identified as Junior Mutuku Musyoka, 12, and Charles Opindo Bala, 13 \u2013 were found in Kabete.<\/p>

He has been linked to several other disappearances in recent months, though police say it is not yet clear what his motive was.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Police are trying to establish if Wanjala had accomplices or if he was working alone.<\/p>\n

The suspect led detectives to the site of several of the murders in July, with officers taking photos and videos as evidence.<\/p>\n

Many of the sites were thick bushes near maize plantations, but Wanjala also dumped his victim\u2019s bodies in open sewage pipes, Capital News reported.<\/p>\n

Police said Wanjala had tried to ransom the children, demanding between \u00a3200 (KSH 30,000) and \u00a3330 (KSH 50,000) from their parents in exchange for their freedom.<\/p>\n
