APUA minister Sir Robin Yearwood has explained the reason being Jolly Habour residents not receiving portable water for a number of weeks.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He said that the Ffryes Reverse Osmosis plant has sucked in sand, marine vegetation, and other debris because of the recent rough seas.<\/p>\n

Now that the sea has calmed, the storage tanks are being cleaned and the plant is currently producing almost one-half of its maximum capacity, according to Yearwood.<\/p>

He said the Ffryes plant when at full capacity, produces 625,000 gallons of potable water daily; it provides the villages and the hotels in the south with fresh water.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The APUA has purchased about $100,000 in pipes to extend the suck-up system, so that turbid waters will not adversely affect the operation of the reverse osmosis plant in the future.<\/p>\n

APUA says it granted permission to Jolly Harbour to operate its own reverse osmosis plant.<\/p>
