The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda says it will move ahead with its plans to replace leaky, old pipes throughout the City of St. John\u2019s.<\/p>

The plans is to undertake this water-saving\u00a0measure before the repaving of the City\u2019s streets gets underway.<\/p>\n

The minister responsible for APUA says almost 2,000,000 gallons of potable water leak from broken pipes daily.<\/p>

“Wastage of precious water cannot be allowed to continue,” the Cabinet agreed.<\/p>

“The replacement of the old water pipes, estimated at a few million dollars, will be undertaken virtually simultaneously with the repaving of the road surfaces,” it added.<\/p>\n

New sewerage pipes and conduits for electricity and telephones, in the heart of the City, will also be undertaken.<\/p>
