The Cabinet of Antigua & Barbuda has announced that preparation for the 2018 hurricane has begun.<\/p>

Government’s Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst announced that a fund has been set aside to commence the cleaning of drains, the removal of overhanging tree branches from electricity and telephone wires, and the provision of resources to the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).<\/p>\n

“The preparatory work is intended to ensure that there will be a diminution of damages to homes, businesses and institutions” Hurst announced.<\/p>

The Cabinet also agreed to strengthen the HAPI program which allows for indigent owners of vulnerable homes to have their dwelling places strengthened, before the hurricane season arrives.<\/p>

“Building a resilient and hurricane resistant country is the object of the Gaston Browne administration,” the Cabinet agreed.<\/p>\n
