Covid affects men erectile function, Covid is thought to affect a man’s ability to have children.<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n

It is found that COVID kills more men than women and more men in ICU. <\/b><\/em><\/p>

Other issues specific to men like the impotence, erectile disfunction and fertility issues are not things we are seeing acutely and fortunately or unfortunately are not emergencies. <\/b><\/em><\/p>

At the moment I cannot say I am seeing patients coming in for that but internationally it is a hot topic. <\/b><\/em><\/p>\n

Impotence is not high on the list of problems that we see. <\/b><\/em><\/p>

We need more studies to confirm it, but it looks like there is another important reason to get the COVID-19 vaccine \u2014 it could help prevent erectile dysfunction.<\/p>

As soon as doctors realized that the virus threatened the endovascular system, we started wondering if COVID-19 infection could cause ED. And anecdotally, since the pandemic began in March 2020, urologists like myself had noticed an uptick in patients who were experiencing erectile dysfunction.<\/p>\n

But while we suspected that COVID and ED might be related, it hadn\u2019t been proven yet.<\/p>\n

So, getting the news that COVID might cause episodes of ED was good news for doctors like myself who are trying to convince vaccine-skeptics of the benefits of getting the jab.<\/p>\n

And let me, as a doctor who helps men who have erectile dysfunction, affirm that there is no \u2014 repeat no \u2014 scientific evidence to support rapper Nicki Minaj\u2019s assertion to her 22.6 million Twitter followers this week that the COVID vaccines can cause impotency or \u201cswollen testicles.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a study published in July, researchers in Italy called more than 2,000 men on the phone to ask a series of questions about their health and ED. All of the men had tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

So far, it\u2019s only one study, but the evidence strongly suggests that ED and COVID\u201019 are strongly associated. COVID-19 appears to increase the chances of developing erectile dysfunction, and erectile dysfunction appears to be a marker of increased susceptibility to infection. A double whammy.<\/p>\n

ED is often symptom of other health issues<\/h2>\n

Why are they related? COVID affects the pulmonary microvasculature. Erectile dysfunction is often a reflection of other health issues. For example, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and coronary diseases all affect the internal part of the arteries, or the endothelium. Endothelium are the cells that line the internal part of the arteries and veins.<\/p>\n
