Grenada\u2019s Oldest Citizen, Leonora Massima Noel, age 119 of L\u2019Esterre, Carriacou succumbed to COVID-19\u00a0 on Friday morning at the Princess Royal Hospital.<\/p>

Prime Minister of the island country \u2013 Dr Keith Mitchell, expressed his condolences to the family of Noel and cited that, \u201cI am deeply saddened by the passing of Leonora Massima Noel, who died this morning in Carriacou. At 119, she is believed to be Grenada\u2019s oldest citizen. I extend sincere condolences to her family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the statement,\u00a0PM Mitchell<\/a>\u00a0asserted in his Facebook post, \u201cIt is unfortunate that we are losing so many of our senior citizens to this dreaded disease. They are among the most vulnerable, and we have to do our best to protect them from this virus. I pray that Sister Leonora finds eternal peace.\u201d<\/p>

About Leonora Massima Noel \u2013<\/p>\n

She was born in Venezuela but moved to Carriacou \u2013 an island dependency of Grenada \u2013 at a young age.<\/p>

Noel celebrated her birthday on 10 December 2020. Various government officials were present at her\u00a0birthday celebration<\/a>\u00a0that includes -island nation\u2019s Minister for Carriacou and \u2013 Petite Martinique Affairs & the Local Government \u2013 Kindra Maturine-Stewart, as well as some staff from the \u2013 Ministry\u2019s Department of Social Development.<\/p>\n

Queen Elizabeth also bestowed the supercentenarian in the year 2016.
\nThough it is argued that Noel is the \u2013 \u201coldest person alive\u201d, there are no official documents to back the claim as her date of birth is unknown.<\/p>

Noel, while in an interview with a\u00a0media house,<\/a>\u00a0talked about her diet cited that it mainly includes coo-coo (cornmeal), fish as well as other organic meals.<\/p>
