(AT) Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda<\/a>\u00a0Gaston Browne participated at the 76th United Nations General Assembly via video conferencing on Saturday. During his address, he said the cries of small nations are often ignored and discarded even when they are given an opportunity to speak.<\/p>

He also raised the issue of lack of vaccine equity and said no dedicated fund was provided to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccines are made available for all countries regardless of their size.<\/p>\n

<\/ins><\/ins><\/ins><\/div>\n

Prime Minister Browne stated that during the pandemic, the international financing to ensure enough medical supplies were late and also too small. He said enough resources and financial support was not made available to small countries to overcome the crisis on health and economic structures.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Furthermore, speaking on the impacts of\u00a0COVID-19,<\/a>\u00a0PM Browne stated that the virus continues to spread and kill people across the world. He said the economic impacts of coronavirus are going to be longstanding as economies are still struggling to overcome the backlashes caused by the shutdowns. He said the prospect of recovery recedes every minute of every day, and stronger actions are required to ensure the revival.<\/p>\n

During his address at the United Nations General Assembly, the Antiguan Prime Minister also demanded vaccine equity and asked all nations to come forward for smaller and lower-income countries.<\/p>\n
