President Biden will mandate that federal workers get vaccinated without the option of regular testing instead when he gives a speech Thursday afternoon outlining six steps his administration will take to combat a rise in coronavirus cases across the country, according to a report.<\/p>

Biden will sign an executive order stipulating that the requirement also pertains to employees of contractors that do business with the federal government,\u00a0CNN reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Among the steps he will announce are efforts to increase the number of Americans getting vaccinated, to keep schools open and to protect those who have already had their shots as coronavirus cases continue to rise across the country, the White House said.<\/p>

The president will also address testing, mask-wearing, and efforts to prevent COVID from damaging the economy.<\/p>

Psaki said Biden will reiterate the need for all Americans to get vaccinated. \u200b<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that increasing vaccinations will stop the spread of the pandemic, will get the pandemic under control, will return people to normal life.\u200b \u200bThat\u2019s what our objective is. So we want to be specific about what we\u2019re trying to achieve\u200b,\u201d she said.<\/p>

The move comes as a\u00a0Post analysis of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data found<\/a>\u00a0the vast majority of Americans who are getting serious cases of COVID-19 or dying are unvaccinated.<\/p>

The CDC said about 99 percent of hospital admissions between Jan.\u00a01 and Aug. 30 were among the unvaccinated.<\/p>\n

Only about 53 percent of all Americans are vaccinated, despite the presence of the virus that has killed more than 649,000 Americans.\u00a0\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n
