Neither his training nor years of military service could have muted the pain Major Alando Michael felt when he discovered his daughter\u2019s lifeless body.<\/p>

\u201cIt does not prepare you; it does not prepare you for a moment like this. It doesn\u2019t prepare you. It is not a stranger, it is not an acquaintance, it is your flesh and blood being taken abruptly,\u201d Major Michael said on TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe experience, it\u2019s different, you watch and can see and you can walk away but experiences like these you don\u2019t walk away from. It walks with you,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>

Thirty-three-year-old Alana Michael died as a result of a suspected suicide on Monday.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI was the one that actually found her, so it was a lot of emotions in one, seeing her in that state. I called her, I tried to see if she was still alive, after that I called 911,\u201d the senior defence force officer recounted.<\/p>\n

The grieving father said Alana showed \u201csigns of depression\u201d but he didn\u2019t think that they would have progressed to her death.<\/p>

\u201cNo. I thought there was always a chance to avoid it getting to that point. I thought that we could have worked things out and gotten past that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He advised parents to \u201clove your children every day because you don\u2019t know how long they will be with you.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cSo, no matter how much trouble they seem to give and how botheration they may be at any time, love them because when they are not there, you\u2019ll feel that sense of loss and you\u2019ll wish they would be there giving all the trouble and all the, you know, botheration,\u201d he said.<\/p>
