Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has expressed \u201cshock and sadness\u201d at the sudden passing of the Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay Constituency Edward \u201cEd\u201d Registe.<\/p>\n

Registe was admitted to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital late on August 31, 2021, and passed away in the early hours of September 1, 2021.<\/p>

In a very emotional interview on DBS radio with Programme Director of the radio station Ivona Jno Baptiste-Lugay, Prime Minister Skerrit described his death as \u201can extraordinary dark moment for us in and within the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), the Grand Bay constituency and by extension Dominica.\u201d<\/p>

<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cEd Registe was a strong advocate for the little man and was a stalwart of the DLP, he had a passion for youth and people\u2019s development giving his entire life to the service of Dominica, the Grand Bay constituency and the party,\u201d the DLP leader stated.<\/p>\n

He had to be composed during the interview as he broke down in tears in describing the late Ed Registe.<\/p>

\u201cHe was a committed, dedicated and loyal individual he was one of my strongest and reliable allies within the DLP. He had a passion for what he did; he was a big guy in stature but very humble and determined guy,\u201d Skerrit said.<\/p>\n

Ed, as he is was popularly known was the General Secretary of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) was admitted to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital on August 31, 2021.<\/p>\n

He won the seat for the DLP in December 2019 general elections.<\/p>\n

Registe was also a stalwart of the Credit Union movement in Dominica.<\/p>\n

Before that, he served as Deputy Speaker of the Dominica Parliament.<\/p>\n
