The landscape gardener, 28, from Mackay, North Queensland, flew into the violent rage when he thought the children were having \u2018sexual engagement\u2019.<\/p>

Defence barrister Scott McLennan said it had \u2018triggered something in him, he wasn\u2019t able to cope with it\u2019, The Courier Mail reported.<\/p>

Mackay District Court was told the father repeatedly struck his eldest son, before throwing him to the ground in fury, leaving him bruised and terrified.<\/p>\n

He later told police: \u2018It\u2019s hard to explain it, I caught my boy sitting on another boy\u2019s lap, this is the saddest thing I\u2019ve ever seen in my life.<\/p>

\u2018I\u2019m a piece of s***. I shouldn\u2019t have put my hands on my kid, but a matter of fact I have.\u2019<\/p>\n

When the boy\u2019s mother ran in to protect their infant daughter, the thug dad attacked her, pinning her to the wall by her throat and choking her until she was unconscious.<\/p>

\u2018You better f***me after this,\u2019 the man told her before she passed out, the court heard.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He later apologised to her when she regained consciousness, only to slap her again as she tried to comfort their infant daughter.<\/p>\n

The man, who can\u2019t be named for legal reasons, shouted: \u2018They were all trying to send him to jail\u2019, said Crown prosecutor Samantha O\u2019Rourke.<\/p>\n

The sustained attack lasted several days until a welfare visit on the family led to his arrest in August 2020 and he was remanded in custody.<\/p>\n

Even while he was being held in custody, the court heard, he tried to persuade the boy\u2019s mother to drop the charges or \u2018he would miss out on the children\u2019s lives\u2019.<\/p>\n

The court heard he ignored police protection and domestic violence orders and continued to contact the mother throughout September and October.<\/p>\n

The man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking, attempting to pervert justice, and five counts each of common assault, contravening a domestic violence order and police protection orders.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to all offences at Mackay District Court on Monday and was jailed for three years by Judge Tony Moynihan, but has already spent over a year in custody on remand.<\/p>\n

He could be free by Christmas, with a parole hearing on December 18 2021.<\/p>\n
