Prominent Dominican jurist Ephraim Georges has died. He was 82.<\/p>

Justice Georges died at the Mount St. John\u2019s Medical Centre, his family confirmed.<\/p>\n

Justice Georges, who was called to the bar of England and Wales in 1965 was the Registrar for the Courts in his homeland in 1971, becoming a magistrate three years later.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He served as chief magistrate, before taking up a post in Barbados as a magistrate in 1976. In 1981, Justice Georges became the First Registrar of Titles in Barbados, before serving as a magistrate for four years in Bermuda from 1984. He also acted as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Bermuda.<\/p>

He served as justice of the Supreme Court of the Seychelles in 1988 and 1989 before returning to the region to serve as a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in 1991 until 2003, serving also as a member of the OECS Appeals Court before his retirement in 2012.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the OECS Bar Association said that Justice Georges \u201cwas an eminent jurist whose impact on the jurisprudence in the OECS has been profound.<\/p>

\u201cWe stand in mourning with his wife Greta, his children and grandchildren and we ask the Lord to comfort them and give them strength during this difficult time,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n
