When I read Reuters\u2019 report of this tragic attempt on the life of the Vincentian Prime minister, \u00a0I was stunned by the negative global effect which this act of brutishness could have on our civilization and our leaders\u2019 attempt to combat the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Those: Politicians, union leaders and media activists, \u00a0who are fueling the anti-vaccination campaign, should use the apparent, \u00a0attempted assassination of The Right Hon, Ralph Gonsalves )Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines) as a harsh reminder that, they have the right to \u00a0lawful speech, not freedom to inspire \u00a0criminal violence. \u00a0Indeed, some may well argue that certain \u00a0leaders of the Anti-vaccination campaign, \u00a0should examine \u00a0the palm of their hands, \u00a0for blood stains from this murderous attempt, \u00a0to assassinate the dean of Caribbean Prime Ministers<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Anti-vaxxer: politicians, union leaders and media activists, should \u00a0not \u00a0be \u00a0too naive to know that some \u00a0of their followers may \u00a0be \u00a0people with low IQ and or mental or emotional conditions, \u00a0which limit their \u00a0thinking and related cognitive skills.<\/p>

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Some may \u00a0wonder if \u00a0they are aware of \u00a0that, and are cynically, \u00a0herding their loyal supporters \u00a0toward the kind of action unleashed against the Right Hon, Ralph Gonsalves, in a selfish grasp \u00a0at \u00a0political advantage?<\/p>\n

And why was this savage attack performed against the life of Prime Minister Gonsalves? Perhaps, because he is leading the effort to have (at least) frontline workers in his country,\u00a0 vaccinated against the COVID \u00a0virus. A pandemic condition which is killing millions of people around the World including, in St Vincent, The Grenadines and the rest of the Caribbean.<\/p>

<\/div>\n

For that, almost any Caribbean head of Government could be the assassin\u2019s next target.<\/p>\n

Strangely, the actions of the anti-vaxxer: Politicians, union leaders and media activists, suggest \u00a0they \u00a0are not aware that \u00a0if COVID kills their unvaccinated supporters, they die with their: Votes, union dues and media support.<\/p>

<\/div>\n

Perhaps, the worst insult to injury, is the fact that many of those who are leading or inspiring the anti-vaccination campaign, may \u00a0(themselves) be \u00a0fully vaccinated, and protected \u00a0against \u00a0serious illness and death from COVID or its family of diseases. Yet they boldly discourage public policies designed to give \u00a0 their followers the same \u00a0 protection from the virus\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Strange, indeed?<\/p>

I expect that Prime Minister Gonsalves (being the outstanding statesman) will avoid utterances, which will imply recrimination. Rather, \u201clet the law take its course\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Caribbean leaders must double-down on efforts to save our civilization from this dangerous and deadly COVID virus.<\/p>\n

As is the case with the recent assassination \u00a0of the President of Haiti, the security gaps which allow such a crude and medieval head \u00a0injury to \u00a0a \u00a0Prime Minister, \u00a0 suggests real weaknesses in the \u00a0protective \u00a0detail of the Vincentian leader.<\/p>\n

The assassination of the President of Haiti, killed Caribbean democratic \u00a0innocence; The \u00a0(more recent) attempted assassination of Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, buried it. Furthermore, both murderous acts are loud calls for enhanced security for our national and regional leaders. Walk good until next time.<\/p>\n
