The world\u2019s best sports competitors are set to spend their nights on cardboard beds \u2014 allegedly designed to collapse under the weight of fornicators to discourage sex amid COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Olympic officials \u2014 who already warned 2021 Games participants to avoid two-person push-ups because of the coronavirus \u2014 have set up 18,000 of the cardboard beds in the notoriously sex-crazed athletes\u2019 village,\u00a0according to Dezeen<\/a>\u00a0magazine.<\/p>

\u201cBeds to be installed in Tokyo Olympic Village will be made of cardboard, this is aimed at avoiding intimacy among athletes,\u201d American distance runner Paul Chelimo\u00a0tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>

\u201cBeds will be able to withstand the weight of a single person to avoid situations beyond sports,\u201d Chelimo cracked. \u201cI see no problem for distance runners, even 4 of us can do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Olympian, Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan, said in a video posted to his Twitter account that although the beds are made out cardboard, they\u2019re perfectly sturdy.<\/p>

In the video, McClenaghan jumps up and down on his bed to illustrate how the furniture doesn\u2019t crumble under his weight.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Olympic athletes have never shied away from hanky-panky, but officials have warned it could spell particular trouble this year amid the pandemic.<\/p>

The 100 percent recyclable cardboard beds were designed by the Japanese company Airweave.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

But officials are apparently aware it\u2019s going to take a lot more than the makeshift berths to keep players out of the pole position.<\/p>\n

They are distributing a cache of condoms to the athletes, as they have at every Olympic Games since 1988. This year, the condom tally is 160,000. Still,\u00a0that\u2019s a far cry<\/a>\u00a0from the 450,000 doled out for the last Summer Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.<\/p>\n

This year, Olympic officials insist the rubber is for athletes to bring home to spread the message of safe sex.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur intent and goal is not for athletes to use the condoms at the Olympic Village, but to help with awareness by taking them back to their own countries,\u201d the Tokyo Olympics Organizing Committee said\u00a0in a statement<\/a>\u00a0to Japan Today.<\/p>\n

At least two athletes\u00a0have already tested positive f<\/a>or the coronavirus at the Tokyo Olympic Village, officials said Sunday. Another resident of the Village, a visitor from abroad involved in the Games\u2019 planning, was reported as having tested\u00a0positive a day earlier<\/a>.<\/p>\n
