The Ministry of Tourism and Investment in continuing with its thrust to ensure that tourism industry workers receive Covid-19 health and safety protocols training, successfully completed another training session yesterday (Thursday) with newly employed hospitality staff.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Sustainable Tourism Officer within the Ministry of Tourism, Dr. Adelle Blaire said Thursday\u2019s training session was focused on different areas of the hospitality sector to include, accommodation, kitchen and dining, food and beverage, outdoor activities, reception and management.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs we go further in the month and as cruise ships are set to return, we will be convening other training sessions for taxi drivers and tour operators\u201d, stated Dr. Blair.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Added to this, the necessary notices will be sent out to taxi drivers and tour operators who are new to the industry to participate in the training. \u201cWe want to ensure that they are prepared for the resurgence of the tourism industry and follow the new guidelines that are laid out to protect themselves and their clients\u201d, Dr. Blair continued.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Mrs. Andrea Marshall, Environment Health and Safety Consultant <\/span>contracted by both the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment and the Ministry of Tourism and Investment<\/span> to facilitate the trainings, said at the end of each session, it is expected that all participants will understand what is required of them in their respective departments <\/span>to ensure the successful implementation of their specific guidelines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Marshall noted that, \u201cWe know that the virus is easily passed from one person to the other and so it is required that we all follow the protocols that are implemented to keep us safe\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

Amid the rise in the spread of the highly contagious Covid -19 Delta variant, there has been a call for <\/span>hospitality workers to not only receive health and safety protocols training but to be fully vaccinated to prevent serious illness, hospitalization and death.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Between June 12, 2020 and July 8, 2021, a total of 5648 tourism industry workers have benefited from Covid-19 safety and protocols training. <\/span><\/p>
