A high powered team of medical and legal experts has been assembled to address the issue of\u00a0 mandatory vaccination at a special virtual forum scheduled for <\/span>Thursday, July 8<\/b>th<\/b>, 2021 from\u00a0 4pm \u2013 6pm<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The virtual forum is jointly organized by the Organization of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar\u00a0 Associations (OCCBA) and the OECS Bar Association under the theme, <\/span>\u201cMandatory\u00a0 Vaccination: Legal, Justified or Effective?\u201d<\/b>. It is open to the public.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The seasoned four member panel of two medical and two legal experts comprises <\/span>Dr Peter\u00a0 Figueroa<\/b>, Professor of Public Health, Epidemiology and HIV\/AIDS at the University of the\u00a0 West Indies, Kingston (Jamaica); <\/span>Dr.George Mitchell <\/b>former Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and\u00a0 Co-ordinator of Grenada\u2019s Covid 19 Response Team; <\/span>Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine<\/b>,\u00a0 Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies (UWI-Trinidad) and specialist in Labour\u00a0 Law, Public Law and Law and Legal Systems; <\/span>Dr Lloyd Barnett OJ<\/b>, Human Rights Advocate,\u00a0 Constitutional Expert and founding member of the Regional and Judicial Legal Services\u00a0 Commission (RJLSC) of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The session will be moderated by <\/span>M Georgia Gibson Henlin, QC<\/b>, who is Conference Co-chair\u00a0 of the of the Jamaica Bar Association (JBA) Continuing Legal Education (CLE) committee and a\u00a0 Council Member of the JBA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Each panelist will present for a maximum 15 minutes, followed by what is expected to be rich\u00a0 interactive discussion at the end of all the presentations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The joint virtual forum is part of continuing efforts on the part of the two umbrella bar\u00a0 associations to raise public awareness, provide critical and relevant information and encourage\u00a0 public engagement on the very topical and contentious issue of mandatory vaccination.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
