Officials within the Measurement and Evaluation Unit of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries are reporting a satisfactory start to the 2021 Grade Six National Assessment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Head of the unit, Assistant Director of Education, Measurement and Evaluation said no difficulties were encountered on Tuesday that hampered the execution of the exit exams.<\/p>\n

Language Arts and Science were written by 1,456 students on Wednesday, while Social Studies and Mathematics will be administered on Thursday. The Grade Six National Assessment was re-introduced this year, following its cancellation in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Among the students writing the examinations are three boys who were home schooled, an option of primary education offered to parents and guardians in 2020 by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Ms. Francis says her expectation is that students will perform at the same level as compared to previous years.<\/p>\n

Results of this year\u2019s Grade Six National Assessment are expected by 2nd<\/sup> July, 2021.<\/p>

Meantime, Grades 2 and 4 National Assessments remain cancelled for a second year. These evaluations are used to analyze students\u2019 levels of competencies and to determine what remedial work must be carried out. This year, schools were required to submit end of term results and tables of certification, which were then measured against the curriculum to ascertain students\u2019 competencies.<\/p>\n
