Today, 16,800 doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine will arrive in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

According to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, \u201cThese doses were secured through the COVAX facility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collecting the vaccines at the V.C Bird International Airport on behalf of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda will be Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph and Director of Pharmaceutical Services Alfred Athill.<\/p>

The arrival of the additional vaccines is in tandem with the national call for more residents to come out and get vaccinated.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The public, according to health authorities, are being encouraged to actively participate in the COVID-19 vaccination program to create herd immunity, whereby the majority of the population is protected from becoming seriously ill with COVID-19.<\/p>\n

With herd immunity, it is expected that the country will return to some degree of normalcy, thereby facilitating economic, social and cultural activities with greater ease of travel.<\/p>

To date, 34,368 first doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered, while 22,896 second doses were administered.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, residents are reminded of the four vaccination sites: Villa Polyclinic, Glanvilles Polyclinic, Perry Bay Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Center, and the Precision Center in Paynters.<\/p>

The public vaccination sites will operate on Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.<\/p>

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is reminding the public that pre-registration for COVID-19 vaccination continues.<\/p>\n

For online registration, visit www.vaccineantiguabarbuda.com and select the \u201cVaccine Registration\u201d tab.<\/p>\n

Persons who have received the first dose are also advised to secure their vaccination cards, as these must be presented for the second COVID-19 vaccine dose.<\/p>\n
