The country\u2019s real estate sector has been given a major boost with a leading local firm
\njoining forces with one of the most prestigious names in the global industry.<\/p>

Island Living \u2013 which has been at the forefront of Antigua\u2019s sales and rentals market for
\nover a decade \u2013 has been rebranded by the esteemed Chestertons group.<\/p>\n

Despite unprecedented challenges to the economy from the Covid pandemic, the local
\nreal estate sector has flourished as lockdowns across the world force people to reconsider
\nconventional methods of working.<\/p>

The union with Chestertons is another auspicious sign for the industry, explains Island
\nLiving\u2019s managing director Gaye Hechme.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cChestertons\u00a0is one of the oldest names in real estate in the world; it was established in
\n1805 and is well over 200 years old,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Driven by a young, diverse professional team with a passion for marketing, Chestertons

\nHechme explains.<\/p>

Hechme says real estate continues to be of \u201csignificant importance\u201d to the country\u2019s
\neconomy as it provides a \u201cglobally recognised safe investment\u201d to prospective buyers.<\/p>

\u201cUndoubtedly, 2020 was a very challenging year worldwide, but the demand for real
\nestate and second citizenship has seen a peak over the last few months,\u201d she says.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cThe restrictions on travel coupled with the pandemic have highlighted the importance of
\na home away from home for those seeking a secure investment and an excellent quality of
\nlife in a safe location.\u201d<\/p>\n

Island Living\u2019s move under the Chestertons umbrella came about through a chance
\nconversation at an industry event in 2019.<\/p>\n

Chestertons was expanding into the Caribbean and Hechme was inspired by the benefits it
\ncould bring to Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was persuaded to take Island Living to the next level with the\u00a0Chestertons\u00a0brand. I
\ndiscussed the\u00a0offer with my partner Cameron Fraser who enthusiastically said \u2018let\u2019s go for it\u2019
\n– and here we are,\u201d she recalls.
\nIsland Living offers everything from holiday and long-term rentals, to villa and land
\nsales, and citizenship by investment and development services.<\/p>\n

Gavin Vercoe, Chestertons\u2019 COO International said Island Living was the ideal partner as
\nit was looking for \u201cgood people in good markets\u201d while seeking to further its reach.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be able to service clients properly in real estate you need good people that have a
\ndeep understanding of their local market. Both Gaye and Cameron are experts in the local
\nreal estate market but also in citizenship by investment and development,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were keen to expand into Antigua as the\u00a0Chestertons\u00a0brand serves\u00a0the upper end of
\nthe market and international clients who seek beautiful locations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have confidence in Antigua as its combination of providing citizenship by
\ninvestment with real estate ownership and the spectacular properties and lifestyle make it a destination that will always be sought by the international market,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

The official launch of Chestertons Antigua and Barbuda takes place on June 8.<\/p>\n

The Chestertons network spans 21 countries and five continents. Antigua and Barbuda is
\nthe newest addition to its Caribbean presence which also includes Barbados, Grenada, St
\nLucia and the Cayman Islands.<\/p>\n
