On April 9th, 2021, La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines erupted causing severe devastation to homes and agriculture.<\/p>

This prompted the Government of SVG to request for assistance through the Regional Security System (RSS) to provide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA\/DR) support.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the RSS in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMO) of St. Vincent and the Grenadines activated a Disaster Response Mechanism to support the government and the people of St. Vincent and Grenadines.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Over the period 10 \u2013 24 May 2021, Leading Seaman (LS) Erica Davis from the ABDF along with two members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda as members of the CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit (CDRU) provided HA\/DR support in St. Vincent.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

On Sat 29 May 2021, a 15- member team from the ABDF along with 15 members from the RPFAB has been deployed to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to provide much needed law enforcement and security assistance as part of the RSS efforts to support a member state.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The ABDF and the RPFAB stand ready to assist the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in time of need and will continue to support its neighbours through the Regional Security System.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Antigua and Barbuda National Cadet Corps (ABNCC), under the Command of Maj. A. Michael, answered the call for Regional support for our fellow Corps of St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVGCF) who are currently assisting in Disaster Response, stemming from the recent volcanic eruptions and floods.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The vivacious teens, led by Cpl. James T, represented the humanitarian\/community outreach arm of the ABNCC, where the members demonstrated their civic responsibilities by donating dry goods and toiletries, with the aid of Officers and Parents of an active PTA Group. The Cadets took the time to collection, packaging, and also with loading of the donations onto the aircraft themselves.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This team of Cadets has also been active during the COVID 19 pandemic by assisting national and church based organizations to collect, package, and delivery of care packages to those in need.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Cadets also extended camaraderie and best wishes to the soldiers of the ABDF who were deployed to St. Vincent today.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ABNCC family wishes them all the best.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kudos to the members of the ABNCC for answering duty’s call and do wish that they will continue to lend a hand to those in need, both locally and across the seas.<\/p>\n
