Twelve officers from the Beach Safety and Security Unit within the Ministry of Tourism and Investments will receive a special training over the next six weeks at the Sir Wright F. George Police Academy.<\/p>

The training programs\u2019 main objective is to equip the BSSU with key skills that would propel and enhance the Ministry of Tourism & Investment\u2019s goal of improved beach security in the Nation of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Tourism & Investment, Mr. Walter Christopher said the six-week program is one element of the Ministry\u2019s preparation for the revival of the tourism industry post covid-19.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cOur intention is to restructure and strengthen our Beach Safety and Security Unit and we expect that after the program is completed our beach officers will function effectively and efficiently in the new and improved unit\u201d, PS Christopher said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The course was designed to assist members of the BSSU with developing of their communication and technical skills, in the execution their duties in an ethical manner and will be able to make a positive impact beyond their work on the beach and into the wider community.<\/p>\n

PS Christopher said preparations for the training began last October and the officers selected to participate showed much enthusiasm about the special opportunity.<\/p>

The Training Program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism & Investment and the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n
