On Saturday, members of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout team rolled out the mobile unit to offer residents of Antigua and Barbuda the opportunity to get vaccinated.<\/p>

The one-day weekend event saw collaboration with the M&M service station as the mobile unit set up shop from 6 am to 2 pm last Saturday.<\/p>

The partnership with the service station offered first-time patients, gas vouchers as they completed their \u2018jab\u2019.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>

Marking the initiative as a success, the mobile unit reported over 200 vaccinations that day, the majority being first dose administrations. According to the rollout team, the public response was tremendous, citing several young adults, lining up for their jab.<\/p>\n

A member of the rollout team went on to explain that they were delighted that M&M service station, as a good corporate citizen, saw it fit, to partner with the ministry on this important, public exercise.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

The owner of the service station, Mr. Philbert Mason, highlighted how important it is for the public, especially younger adults, to get vaccinated.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI felt it was important, that we get young people to understand that this COVID virus is very serious; and if it takes some measure of help to get them to come and be vaccinated, I decided that I could make that contribution to the society,\u201d Mason stated.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The proprietor further indicated that COVID-19 is a public health crisis, and it would take the buy-in of the public to see a way out of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mr. Mason said, \u201cWithout feeling the full gravity, that our life depends on all of us being vaccinated, as I see it, if you are vaccinated, you are part of the solution, if you are not vaccinated, then you just might be part of the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As the country continues its steady pace toward herd immunity, more and more incentives from the private sector are seemingly rolling in.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Recently, Epicurean Fine Foods offered $50.00 food vouchers for first-time inoculators, while Neverland Toys store was seen offering a 10% discount on items when your vaccination card is presented.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the latest update from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, \u201cthirty-two thousand four hundred and sixty-nine (32,469) first doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered while seven thousand and fifty (7,050) second doses were administered.\u201d<\/p>\n
