ASSOCIATES TIMES: Antigua and Barbuda:\u00a0The Health Ministry of Antigua and Barbuda\u00a0have planned to establish an identification system that would publicise the vaccination status of businesses and individuals in the tourism sector.<\/p>

This step by the ministry has been taken to ensure the safety of the travellers who are vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda island. The basic idea of this project is to make the \u2013 identification unique to the individual so that it cannot be shared.<\/p>\n

An instance of this ID system could be found in the vaccination cards given to individuals who receive their\u00a0COVID-19 vaccine\u00a0doses on the island and abroad, which are further presented to the immigration staff at points of entry around the globe to ensure of the individual\u2019s vaccination status.<\/p>

The difference with this forthcoming project by the Health Ministry is that the visitors would not need to ask anybody to present their vaccine IDs, instead, they would be displayed on the worker\u2019s persons, as well as on the business places.<\/p>

Melford Nicholas, -Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications & Information Technology\u00a0at the government of Antigua & Barbuda,\u00a0explained the details of the forthcoming project in the post-Cabinet media announcement.<\/p>\n

He stated, \u201cAs the cruise tourism trade returns, many of the shops in Heritage Quay which are closed for now will get some form of identification, on their windows probably, in a very visible way \u2013 to indicate that in these stores, the employees are fully vaccinated.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cThat stamp of approval would be granted by the \u2013 Ministry of Health after inspection and after they are satisfied that all of the employees are in fact fully vaccinated,\u201d- he stated.<\/p>\n

Following the statement, he asserted, \u201cThe same thing would be true for the taxis themselves, not only with the taxi drivers but also with the taxi vehicles as well, would be able to show these emblems.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cIn this week, it was revealed that some taxi operators are already being questioned by the visitors\u00a0in regard to their vaccination status,<\/ins>
\nmeaning this identification project is a clever call, with the nation just weeks away from welcoming the cruises back.\u201d<\/p>
