The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church says it does not support same sex marriage and that it \u201cbelieves and teaches that sexual intimacy should be in the context of a monogamous heterosexual martial relationship\u201d.<\/p>

In a newspaper advertisement here, the SDA of the South Caribbean Conference said that such a marriage should be \u201cbetween a genetic male and a genetic female.<\/p>\n

The Seventh-day Adventist Church believes further that all people, regardless of gender, race and sexual orientation, are God\u2019s children and as such should be treated with civility, compassion and Christ-like love\u201d.<\/p>

\"sex\"<\/a>Same-sex marriage has become legal in 26 nations since the Netherlands led the way in 2001. Austria and Taiwan are set to join this list following court rulings on the matter in 2017.<\/p>

The issue has been an issue that several Caribbean countries have to deal with in recent years with Bermuda Governor John Rankin recently signing legislation replacing same-sex marriage.<\/p>\n

Home Affairs Minister Walton Brown said a referendum had proven that most Bermudians don\u2019t want same-sex marriage, which briefly became the law in Bermuda through a Supreme Court ruling last May. The Bermuda Senate approved the domestic partnerships act last December.<\/p>

In its advertisement, the SDA said it believes that \u2018sexual intimacy belongs only within the martial relationship of a man and a woman.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was the design established by God at creation,\u201d it said, adding that the \u201cBible makes no accommodation for homosexual activity or relationships\u201d.<\/p>
