A COVID-19 patient, who is currently hospitalized at Mount St. John\u2019s Medical Centre is in serious condition, Prime Minister Gaston Browne said.<\/p>

\u201cCurrently, I\u2019m told that there are two hospitalizations at Mount St. John,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cUnfortunately one is very serious, that person is intubated. The other person is mild.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m told too that there are six others at the IDC but most of them are awaiting their second, or their negative test for that matter in order to return home,\u201d the Prime Minister added.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

For the last week there have been 10 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Antigua, which is less than two per day.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Browne said the emergency room has had no COVID traffic for the past couple of days and even though the active cases remain high, he\u2019s been told that quite a number of them should have been taken off the dashboard perhaps weeks ago.<\/p>

\u201cThe problem is the contact tracing team had actually fallen behind,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry has since expanded the team and they have recently completed an audit, [and] we\u2019re told that a significant amount of the cases will be taken off, perhaps on Monday when they next publish the dashboard.<\/p>

\u201cSo, we should probably see significantly less than 100 cases because these are people who have been on there for over a month and we know by then they would have recovered anyway. But as I said the team was overwhelmed at one point \u2026\u201d Browne added.<\/p>
