In the aftermath of the extensive devastation of Hurricane Irma on Barbuda, Antiguans and Barbudans for Constitutional Reform and Education (ABCRE) pledged to help rebuild the schools on Barbuda.\u00a0 One of the organization\u2019s fundraisers for this ambitious project was \u201cBoat Ride for Barbuda\u201d aboard the Circle Line Cruise on Saturday, October 14th 2017.<\/p>\n

Amassing US$15,636.53, the boat ride was hailed as a remarkable success by patrons and organizers. In support of the many Antiguan and Barbudan healthcare workers in New York, ABCRE also received a donation of US$10,000 from 1199SEIU, the largest Healthcare Union in the United States, towards the project.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>\n

ABCRE\u2019s fundraising efforts for schools in Barbuda will continue through September 2018.\u00a0 The board intends to work closely with educational administrators in Antigua and Barbuda to determine the equipment and furniture to be purchased for the schools.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

During his report of the organization\u2019s progress with the project, chairman Ralph Bowen remarks, \u201cABCRE is committed to the education of all Antiguans and Barbudans especially our children of today and tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

The organization extends heartfelt thanks to all who donated to the cause including 1199SEIU; the patrons of the boat ride; entertainers Supa Dymond, Tian Wynter, Claudette \u201cCP\u201d Peters, Supa Mario, Menace, Danski and Gavin Christopher; Messenger Sound DJ; sound engineer Cedar Rock Sound; and Edmond \u201cBrooksie\u201d Brookes for his invaluable assistance with organizing the event.<\/p>
