Privates Schools in Antigua and Barbuda Unify!<\/p>

Over the past year, during the COVID-19 crisis, twenty-five private school in Antigua and Barbuda have come together to work collaboratively and formalize their engagement by establishing the Private Educational Institutions of Antigua and Barbuda. <\/em><\/p>\n

This association was formed with the key objectives of collectively addressing issues germane to private institutions, and advancing the development of private schools in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The formation of this association of private schools is an important step, particularly at this time, given the major role that these institutions play in the education system of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Education statistics indicate that over 50% of primary level students and about 20% of secondary level students are enrolled in private educational institutions. Examination records also reflect that our schools have been consistently exceptional in our academic output at both the Grade Six National Assessment and Caribbean Examination Council levels.<\/p>\n

Private schools also provide an avenue for parents and students who have unique needs. Such needs include specialized remedial and accelerated academic programmes, smaller and personized classes and faith based school environment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

High commendation must be offered to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries which, through its words and actions, has validated the work of private schools in Antigua and Barbuda, and encouraged the formation of this unified entity. We strongly believe that this initiative of deeper collaboration and partnership will only enhance our ability to meet the demands of our stakeholders, especially the students that we serve. Moreover, it provides an avenue for the next generation of educational leaders in our sector to learn from the pioneers, dating back to National Hero Nellie Robinson, who laid the groundwork for this brand of diverse educational framework in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

The maiden executive of the Private Educational Institutions of Antigua and Barbuda<\/em> is led by Adeola Matthew, Principal of Trinity Academy (President), Kelly Hedges, Principal of Victory Center (Vice-President), Maurissa Percival, Principal of St. Peters Academy (General Secretary), and Executive Members: Amaryllis Weeks, (Principal Kids Unlimited), Kalma Simon, (Principal Tabernacle Academy Primary) and Kai Davis (Nyahbinghi Theocracy Church School).<\/p>
