DEAR EDITOR:<\/strong><\/p>

In the last week two brush fires on different sides of Shell Beach & Burma Road have caused concern among the business owners on that side of the airport.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

The drought and the heat of the sun had dried the long grass, wild tamarind and even the resilient dumbs trees,\u00a0which lands have been left up for months since the rains.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Even within the airport compound the long dry grass present a dangerous \u2018premonition\u2019 when watching the two brush fires just outside the \u00a0perimeter fence.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

My question is why those responsible for the cleaning of roads are on less urgent roadways on a daily basis while the airport surroundings of bush are catching fire? We appeal to Solid Waste to send the roadworks to Shell Beach Road ASAP.<\/p>\n

We know the airport is as poor as all of us in Antigua who depend on tourism and aviation, but allowing the grounds of the airport to become a fire hazard is just unacceptable.<\/p>

This is an appeal to the Ministry of Aviation to give the airport the money to clean up the airport grounds and pre-empt a worse danger of fire!\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Makeda Mikael<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
