The youngest person to die from COVID-19 in Antigua & Barbuda has been identified as Valrick Baker.<\/p>

The 34-year-old retired soldier died at the Mount St. John\u2019s Medical Centre on March 11.<\/p>

His sister Lettecia Reader told state media when her brother was first admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 \u201c his blood pressure was good, everything was good and, like, when he was up there, he tell me say his fever was okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, Reader said she was later told Baker \u201ccatch a pneumonia in his lungs\u201d and \u201chis kidney is going.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

In a release that did not reveal Baker\u2019s name, the hospital reported the 34-year-old,\u00a0<\/span>who had \u201cno significant co-morbidities\u201d, was admitted on February 12, 2021, after testing positive for COVID-19 three days earlier.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

The release said his treatment included ventilator support and \u201cdespite our best efforts, the patient died.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yandeen Dennie, another family member, fought to hold back tears as she recalled happier days with Baker.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were talking about, you know, him always in the truck and he\u2019s always beeping or waving \u2018cause you know he can\u2019t open no windows or the doors. So, you know, that\u2019s gonna be the hardest thing for me, like, seeing the truck and not able to see him\u201d, she bemoaned.<\/div>\n
