The County of Northampton Department of Corrections has assured Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s Ambassador to the United States, Sir Ronald Sanders, that Kendra Beazer will have access to medical staff while incarcerated.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Sanders has been in discussions with stateside authorities regarding the case of the Barbuda Council member who was arrested after apparently assaulting several police officers.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cWhile he is incarcerated he will have access to our medical staff who takes care of those incarcerated with medical and mental deficiencies,\u201d Warden\u00a0David Penchishen wrote to Sanders.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

ANR<\/strong>\u00a0has seen copies of correspondence from both sides.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Penchishen said\u00a0Beazer will be in quarantine status for either 72 hours and or until he has a negative COVID result.<\/p>\n

In his March 9 letter, Ambassador Sanders expressed \u201cdeep concern that Mr. Beazer is being confined in prison, when he needs medical attention.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

The ambassador also requested \u201cthat your facility kindly arrange for a medical assessment of Mr. Beazer with a view to transferring him to a facility where he would receive medical attention, pending his lawyer\u2019s approach to the Court.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Penchishen said\u00a0as far as release to a facility that may better fit his needs, this is controlled by the court system.<\/p>

\u201cThe court would order and schedule any evaluations that may be requested by Mr. Beazer\u2019s attorney,\u201d\u00a0Penchishen said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Four cops were said to be escorting Beazer from a hotel to a mental health evaluation when the incident unfolded on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Lehigh University graduate student, who is on a Fulbright scholarship, was reportedly acting erratically on Sunday night in a Pennsylvania hotel.<\/p>\n

Court papers say he assaulted three police officers and a sergeant who were subsequently taking him for the voluntary mental health evaluation.<\/p>\n

Beazer was arraigned early Monday before a district judge on charges of aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, simple assault and harassment.<\/p>\n
