Experts from the United Kingdom today launched a virtual training programme for members of ADOMs, the Coast guard, and Fisheries Department.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This training builds upon previous support provided by the UK Hydrographic Office in 2019 on survey equipment the UK has donated to Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

This will allow Antigua and Barbuda to begin mapping its own waters. The data will support future sustainable growth whilst protecting the environment \u2013 vital to developing the country\u2019s Blue Economy.<\/p>

Over the next ten days participants will receive technical guidance that will sharpen their survey and data processing skills that will help produce high quality data and accurate charts for mariners.<\/p>

This is especially important as predicting changes over time in the sea floor is important for supporting safe and efficient nautical navigation, marine economic development, security and defence, scientific research, and environmental protection.<\/p>\n

During the opening ceremony, the Resident British Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda, Lindsy Thompson, said \u201cthis two-week workshop is another example of the UK\u2019s commitment to Antigua and Barbuda as it navigates this rapidly-developing maritime sphere\u201d.<\/p>
