Prime Minister Gaston Browne said workers failing to wear their masks on the job was causing many people to become infected with the coronavirus.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the areas that we\u2019re very concerned about is that we see an area of vulnerability, staff to staff socialization in offices and business places in which staff members have been exposing themselves to each other,\u201d Browne said on Pointe FM on Saturday.<\/p>\n

He said workers were \u201cwearing their masks as chin guards or in some instances just not wearing their masks around their colleagues.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThat is an extremely dangerous practice, and if it is not eliminated, we could well see an uptick in the amount of active COVID cases,\u201d the Prime Minister warned.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we want to appeal to everyone who are working in these offices in the public and private sectors, in the business places to be a little more conscientious not to take on that level of risk to expose yourself to individuals who could well be infected with COVID.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that workers needed to become mindful of the dangers and managers and supervisors should \u201cinsist that they wear their masks properly, not under their chins as chin guards, and to expose themselves to each other, that they socially distance as appropriate, and to also practice good hygiene etiquette.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cWith 421 active cases, we have to assume that everyone with whom we become in contact could be a possible carrier of COVID\u00a0so that type of negligence is totally unacceptable at this time because what we\u2019re seeking to do is to get the disease under control so that it doesn\u2019t overwhelm our health services,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n
