The Public Health Act prohibits the holding of wakes over the bodies of people who die from infectious diseases in Antigua & Barbuda.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

Byers is the first healthcare worker to die after contracting the coronavirus in the country.<\/p>

Several of her colleague nurses attended the burial ceremony.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The 58-year-old nurse was admitted to Mount St. John\u2019s Medical Centre in an unconscious state last Saturday.<\/p>\n

She reportedly required mechanical ventilation and was pronounced dead on Monday.<\/div>\n
