Resilience, perseverance, and dedication were the words that characterised the experience of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s 2020 Chevening Scholars in what turned out to be an unprecedented year globally. Kissy Gomes and Shanna Challenger shared their excitement for the prestigious opportunity to pursue Masters studies at universities of their choice in the UK. Representing the twin-island nation they not only received new insights about life in the UK but also brought new perspectives to their globally-diverse classes and increased recognition of the major contributions that Antigua and Barbuda has been making in the enivornmental field.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

Coronavirus spreading in the UK and globally, understandably altered their experiences. Nevertheless, with flexibility and strength of will, they successfully completed their Masters programmes and have been able to return home. Resident British Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda, Ms Lindsy Thompson, welcomed their return in a very private and small ceremony yesterday evening.<\/p>

Ms Thompson said: \u201cour alumni continue to play an important role not just promoting the scholarship, but as experts supporting shared UK and Antigua and Barbuda objectives\u201d. Scholars were encouraged to join the great work of the Chevening Alumni and to continue promoting this opportunity to many other great potential Antiguan and Barbudan applicants.<\/p>\n
