Leicester City have made a habit of breaking the top-four party in the Premier League, and their form so far this season has indicated that they are about to do that again. The Foxes have only played in the Champions League on one previous occasion. They qualified for the group stages of the 2016-17 competition after winning the Premier League title against all odds in the previous campaign. While it may not be as big of a surprise this season, could the Foxes be about to compete with the league\u2019s best to secure a spot in the Champions League once again?<\/p>

League Could Be Their Best Route<\/h2>\n

It looked for a long time last season that the Foxes would be playing in the Champions League this season. Brendan Rodgers\u2019 side went into the forced break in a top-four position, but their campaign fell apart as soon as the season resumed. Leicester ultimately lost their place in the Champions League on the final day of the season, as they were beaten at the King Power Stadium by Manchester United. That end of season form showed that there was still work to be done by the Foxes, but they have started this season looking like they have learnt their lesson.<\/p>

They have been easier to beat this season, as they have lost five of their 18 games, but they are winning more games than the majority of the sides around them. Only Manchester United have won more games than the Foxes so far this season. Rodgers seems to have made his side more difficult to beat since the festive period, as the Foxes haven\u2019t lost in five league games. But, if they are to secure a place in the Champions League, then they must be more consistent in the second half of the season.<\/p>

Could The Europa League Be A Back-Up Option?<\/h2>\n

Leicester will also have a back-up option available to them if they aren\u2019t able to finish in the top four, as they are still in the Europa League. The Foxes will face off against Slavia Prague in the round of 32 stage of the competition, but it may be hard to excel on both fronts. It may get to a pivotal point of the season where Rodgers will have to decide which route offers the best chance of qualification to the Champions League next season.<\/p>

The teams that finished in third place in their respective Champions League groups will be the ones that they will be most wary of. Manchester United could be the pick of the teams that have dropped into the Europa League and are among the favourites for the Europa League according to the odds at Oddspedia.com<\/a>, but Ajax and Shakhtar Donetsk could both be sides that the Foxes will be looking to avoid. Leicester are in an excellent position ahead of the restart of European competition, and having two possible routes into the Champions League will not be seen as a bad thing for Rodgers.<\/p>\n
