USA TODAY:<\/strong> Travelers flying into the United States from international destinations will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before boarding their flight.<\/p>

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the new policy Tuesday and said it will go into effect Jan. 26. The agency said it hopes the new testing requirement will help slow the spread of the virus, currently surging in the United States,\u00a0as the vaccine rollout continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cTesting does not eliminate all risk,\u201d CDC Director Robert R. Redfield said in a statement,\u201cbut when combined with a period of staying at home and everyday precautions like wearing masks and social distancing, it can make travel safer, healthier, and more responsible by reducing spread on planes, in airports\u00a0and at destinations.\u201d<\/p>
