The Caribbean Community CARICOM has congratulated the Government and People of the Republic Haiti on its Two Hundred and Seventeenth Anniversary of Independence, while highlighting the impact of the country\u2019s inspiring history on the Region.<\/p>

\u201cThe Community joins with the People of Haiti to honour their inspiring history which has been a guiding light for the Region and further afield, and to celebrate this auspicious occasion with them,\u201d CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said in his congratulatory message to Haiti\u2019s President HE\u00a0Jovenel Mo\u00efse.<\/p>

\u201cExcellency, in extending our best wishes on this anniversary, it is hoped that the rich history and symbolism it represents will continue to be a source of national unity and pride for all Haitians,\u201d the Secretary-General said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the Community\u2019s best wishes\u00a0 are extended as the Government and People strive to overcome the inevitable challenges that arise, buoyed by their indomitable spirit, without which there is no possibility or promise of a better future.<\/p>
