Twenty-five-year-old Jeron Goodwin of Lower Gambles and 28-year-old Devon Pryce of Grays Farm have been found guilty of stealing a pregnant doe from a livestock farmer.<\/p>

The goat valued at $3000 belonged to Romeo Chiddick of Fort Road.<\/p>\n

Chiddick, the complainant in the matter, took his sheep and goat to a farm and left them to feed and went near the Epicurean Supermarket to attend to his cattle on July 21.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

About 2:45 pm, the complainant received a call from the owner of the farm, and he returned to the farm and checked his goats.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

There he discovered that a white pregnant doe was missing, and he reported the matter to the police who then investigated the matter.<\/p>\n

Statements were taken from the complainant as well as several witnesses which led to the arrest of the two men.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Both men said maintained that they were innocent when brought into court and were therefore placed on trial.<\/p>\n

A witness claimed to have seen three men in a car with a goat that day and even recorded the license plate number.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The plate number matched that of a car rented by Goodwin for the past two months.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Goodwin\u2019s girlfriend also gave evidence to the effect that Pryce came to Goodwin\u2019s home and asked to borrow his car that day.<\/p>\n

She said that Goodwin then had to borrow a vehicle to take her to one of her relative\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

And from that time until 7pm she was unsure of her boyfriend\u2019s whereabouts.<\/p>\n

Pryce also chose to testify and claimed to not know Goodwin or his gf.<\/p>\n

But contrary to his evidence, the girlfriend claimed that she even organized a call between Pryce and another man who is said to be a Butcher.<\/p>\n

Based on the evidence, Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh found them guilty of larceny.<\/p>\n

Wendel Robinson who represented Pryce asked the Magistrate to sentence his client to time spent since he spent about 3 months on remand.<\/p>\n

Michael Archibald who was Goodwin\u2019s Lawyer, requested that his client be asked to compensate the victim especially noting that \u201cthe loss of his animal is nominal in comparison to what people on Frairs Hill Road have suffered as a result of his untethered animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The men were ordered to split the cost of the animal and pay back the victim.<\/p>\n

If they fail to may by March 31, they will spend 6 months in jail with their time spent in jail considered<\/p>\n
