When asked whether the government has called off Carnival 2021, Minister of Festivals Daryll Matthew simply answered \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>

In fact, he said that his Ministry is eager to announce some major plans for next year\u2019s summer festival.<\/p>\n

“I believe that following the Christmas celebrations perhaps as soon as the first week in January you will hear some very exciting news about carnival 2021,” he said speaking on a radio show yesterday.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u201cFor those of you who love to play mass and who love your calypso and your soca and what not, Carnival 2021 is going to be something special because it is the carnival that is going to be the launch pad for our 40th anniversary of independence and so when you hear the plans and the announcements in the coming weeks. I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll get as excited as I am now,” he added.<\/p>

And before Matthew was cut off, he began to suggest that an incoming vaccine would facilitate the Carnival festivities.<\/p>\n

This year, carnival was canceled early when the cabinet accepted Matthew\u2019s proposal to do just that.<\/p>

Matthews’ recommendation was based on the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic had begun streaming into the shores of Antigua.<\/p>\n

The festivities were scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 4.<\/p>
