After over four months of closure, children from Barbuda will officially be able to access education through the Ministry of Education on the sister isle.<\/p>

News reaching ANR indicate that the decision was made after the Director of Education, Claire Browne, and a team of officials from the Ministry of Education recently visited Barbuda and toured the\u00a0 McChesney George Secondary School.<\/p>\n

During their time on the island, the education officials later met with parents and residents. Reports say that it was during this meeting that it was announced that preparations to get the school ready for February 5 were underway.<\/p>

Angered parents and residents had previously written to the Ministry of Education demanding that the school be “immediately” reopened in Barbuda to give those who were “forced” to return the opportunity to access education, as mandated by the nation’s laws.<\/p>

Government officials had earlier said that both secondary and primary school classes would be held at the\u00a0 McChesney George Secondary School, since the Holy Trinity Primary school suffered extensive damage during the passage of Hurricane Irma last September.<\/p>\n
