It was a night to remember as close to seventy thousand EC dollars were raised during Saturday night\u2019s Friends of the Care Project Beneficiary Fundraising Gala at the Sugar Ridge Resort.<\/p>\n

According to President of Friends of the Care Project, Annette Carey, Sixty-five to seventy thousand Dollars were raised during the first class event, which was organized to raise funds for the residents at the Care Project, which is located at the old Holberton Hospital.<\/p>

In an interview with the Ministry of Health and the Environment Public Relations team, Carey declared that the purpose of the exercise was to raise funds mainly for the educational development of the residents who currently reside at the Care Project.<\/p>

On Saturday night, Carey received rapturous applause from the crowd when she told the gathering that the plans for the new purpose-built facility for the Care Project are going along smoothly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new building is a very exciting venture for all of us and is being built with the donation of almost a million US dollars by the Maria Holder Memorial Trust. I would also like to say a very special thank you to Mark Reid of Jumby Bay who has not only walked by my side throughout this incredible journey towards the new building but has also donated US dollars half a million towards the goal,\u201d Carey said.<\/p>

Another highlight of the evening was Asha Otto and Itchy Feet\u2019s performance as the singing sensation had the crowd rocking to her hit song, Home-Take me Home among others.<\/p>\n

The event was sponsored by Global Bank of Commerce, Sugar Ridge Resort, Premier Beverages, LIAT, Lipstick, Paddy Pendergrass and Itchy Feet Band, Sheer Rocks Restaurant, Catherine\u2019s, Carlisle Bay and Townhouse Mega Store to name a few.<\/p>

Two hundred tickets were sold at a cost of 250 EC and there were live raffles and auctions during the spectacle upstairs in the Sugar Club Restaurant.<\/p>
