In March 2020 Cabinet approved the temporary relief of the Antigua Barbuda Sales Tax on
\nselected items in order to facilitate the move towards keeping the items essential for the
\nprevention of COVID-19 at an affordable price to consumers and to mitigate the spread of the\u00a0 disease.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division continues to receive reports that
\nsome traders are still displaying these items for sale with the ABST included in the price.
\nThe Division is reminding traders of the temporary relief of the ABST on the following items: Antiseptics, Wipes, Sanitizers, Toilet Paper and Paper Towel, Aloe Vera Gel, Vitamin C and Multivitamins. Prices being displayed on these goods should not include the ABST, and no ABST\u00a0 on these good should also be reflected at the checkout point.<\/p>\n

Traders who have questions or need clarity regarding the goods to which the temporary relief of\u00a0 the ABST applies, are asked to contact the Division at 462-0834 or 562-8749.
\nMeanwhile, consumers are asked to be vigilant when purchasing the above-mentioned items.
\nPlease pay particular attention to receipts to ensure the ABST is not being collected on these goods. If a consumer is charged ABST on these goods, he\/she should report the matter to the\u00a0 Division so that the amount paid in tax can be refunded to the consumer.<\/p>
