Antigua & Barbuda\u2019s COVID-19 Transmission Classification will likely revert to \u2018Cluster of Cases\u2019 following the recent uptick in positive cases.<\/p>

Just over a month ago, on September 14, the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) placed the country\u2019s status in the \u2018Sporadic Cases\u2019 category as new cases began to slow down.<\/p>\n

However, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rhonda Sealey-Thomas told state media that \u201ctwo government departments have been identified and the persons from those departments were linked\u201d, to recent cases.<\/p>

\u201cAccording to the World Health Organization we are now classified as \u2018sporadic cases\u2019 but we believe that we are definitely at the stage now to be classified as \u2018clusters\u2019 because of the last few weeks we have seen certain clusters of cases\u201d, she explained.<\/p>

\u201cJust last week, we had a discussion with the Pan-American Health Organization on our classification and we\u2019re still doing our checks to determine whether or not we should move from \u2018sporadic cases\u2019 to \u2018clusters\u2019 and certainly we\u2019re still looking into whether or not we should move to \u2018community transmission\u2019\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n
