The Caribbean Examinations Council has announced an extension of the deadline to submit requests for reviews as well as a reduction of the associated fees.<\/p>

This was among recommendations made by an Independent Review panel convened by Chairman of the CXC, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Dr. Wayne Wesley, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the CXC, made the announcement during a news conference today.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe have taken on board the recommendations made by the panel and would have made for immediate implementation certain adjustment to what we would have communicated to date,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

For example, the extension of the deadline for the reporting and making of requests from Oct. 23 to Nov. 6 for persons to be able to make queries and reviews of examinations of their interest.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecondly, we will reduce the fees associated with the request for a review by 50 per cent. So now, the request for a review will be US$15 and those persons who would have already paid for their review, the difference will be refunded,\u201d Wesley added.<\/p>

According to Wesley, it is also important to note that the review process will include a re-mark of the review scripts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn that regard, if the resulting grade remains the same, the candidate will be advised, and if the resulting grade is increased, the candidate will be advised as well as a full refund of the review fee.\u201d<\/p>

Meanwhile, Wesley said in cases where the review would indicate a decrease in the grade, such a situation will not occur.<\/p>

In fact, he said the policy where a review can result in a reduced grade will be discontinued for this session.<\/p>\n
