Chairman of the Central Board of Health (CBH), Eustace Lake said he would meet with his team to discuss ways the CBH can be \u201ca little bit more diligent\u201d in its fogging operations to control the mosquito population.<\/p>

\u201cNot saying that we are not but I have to make sure that it\u2019s really happening at the level at which it is to happen. So, that\u2019s a meeting I will be having more likely today going down and speaking with Miss Mannix and the crew\u201d, Lake said.<\/p>\n

The CBH Chairman added he \u201cdid speak to a young man yesterday, who is actually in the fields doing the work, and based on what he said to me, everything is being done as best we can but diligence does not take away, it just adds more fluency to what we are actually trying to accomplish.\u201d<\/p>

The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment announced two laboratory cases of Dengue in Antigua and Barbuda last week.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Dengue is a viral disease spread by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.<\/p>\n

Lake said the public must also play a role to eliminate breeding sites for the vector.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI think it is essential for the public to know that Aedes Aegypti mosquito does not breed in dirty, filthy water, it\u2019s clean water so obviously, it\u2019s the water that you\u2019re taking care of in you drums and other receptacles outside. Even plants, water can accumulate in the roots of plants or in the leaves of plants.<\/p>\n

The CBH Chairman also said discussions were still ongoing at his department to move away from fogging with chemicals in its vector control efforts.<\/p>

\u201cGive us about three to six months and we should be able to move away from that process but at this time until I have further conversations with the individuals who are implementing, I don\u2019t necessarily want to overly speculate\u201d, he said.<\/p>
