The Halo Foundation\u2019s Generation Y (youth team) commenced the first in a number of clean up efforts \u00a0in public areas on Saturday October 3rd. The Crabbs Highway was the initial site\u00a0which was given attention, and for several hours a group of \u00a0young, committed volunteers cleared the locality of\u00a0strewn debris.<\/p>

President of Halo Generation Y, Brent Scotland commented, \u201cWe selected this area because it is not often considered for clean up, and it is also heavily cluttered with garbage. \u00a0The\u00a0natural tendency is for groups to gravitate towards beaches and high profile public venues and routes. The entire country should have a chance to be labelled “a little bit of paradise\u201d, pristine and free from carelessly discarded waste.\u201d<\/p>\n

PRO of the Halo\u00a0Foundation, Cuthbert\u00a0Forbes Jr., expressed appreciation for the assistance and co-operation of \u00a0the Chief Health Inspector and National\u00a0Solid Waste Management Authority, who made the exercise a successful one. \u00a0“We also appreciate the donation of Paradiso Water, who drove past and decided to provide complimentary bottles of water on the spot.”<\/p>

President and Founder of the Halo\u00a0Foundation, Her Excellency Lady Sandra Williams said,\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s good to see young people not only talking or tweeting about environmental issues, but turning out at 5:30 am to give service to their country and spruce up the surroundings. \u00a0We applaud the various volunteer groups that are consistently involved in clean up efforts. In general, however, we need to become more conscious of the state of our environment and ensure that we do not engage in the act of littering\u201d.<\/p>
